To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven… (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Our aim as a small diversified farm is to provide product in every season. Every season has it’s fruit and it’s labor. In the late Fall, the season of festivity begins. For a few years now, Jonathan has made wreaths with balsam fir and spruce tips that are harvested locally. Our area, like many others across the world, has seen a surge towards sustaining local markets, be it fresh produce or value added foods, crafts and artistry, or traditional and seasonal items associated with our holidays, like Christmas.
Wreaths and Christmas trees are popularized symbols of Christmas. Wreaths, as we know them, are an inviting door piece that carry the smell of evergreen into a home and spark festivity in those who are greeted by wreaths as they visit homes during the holiday season. The Christmas tree stands resolute in the gathering areas of our home, adorned with every imaginable ornament, for a lengthy stay during the season. It’s boughs, as they step up it’s height, almost guide the eye to the angel or star focal piece. Both wreaths and Christmas trees have their place with us and our families as we celebrate the reasons for the season; faith and family.
Our wreaths are made with tips harvested from our woodlot and nearby areas. We have two sizes available, 12″ and 16″. They can be purchased bare or decorated with bows and other accessories. Wreaths are made with balsam fir and spruce tips in ring clamps that are crimped in our ring clamp machine.
Bare: 12″ – $15. 16″ – $20.
Decorated: 12″ – $20. 16″ – $25.
Our balsam fir Christmas trees come from lo-hi farm in Hoyt, NB. We currently do not grow our own but are looking into a possible plantation down the road. For the time being, we are happy to sell NB grown balsam fir trees. We will have 6′, 7′, 8′, 9′, and 10′ trees available this year. Our first order will arrive the weekend of Nov. 24, 2019. Trees are baled and wrapped and are sold with a fresh bottom cut on the stump and a hole drilled in the bottom to wick up water.
6′ to 7′ – $30
8′ to 9′ – $35
10′ + – $4.50/foot
Finally, our Shetland sheep love a good snack of evergreen boughs so we will take returns on Christmas trees purchased from us. The sheep are also available for a little Christmas visit upon picking up your tree(s) or wreath(s) if you or your little ones are animal lovers.
