Much of our home-cooking has its origins in aged, but not outmoded, recipe books. Some of these books have been in the family for generations and other recipes have been handed down by our Scottish ancestors, minus the Gaelic inscription. However, with a heightened awareness on bodily health we have altered recipes to include healthier substitutes. You will find recipes for sweets like oatcakes, molasses cookies, pumpkin pie, apple pie, jams, and jellies on this page.
If at all possible we always include farm grown ingredients like apples and pumpkins for our pies and jams. This way we can truly have a taste of home. More importantly, you will also find recipes for uses of our different beef cuts, chicken, and eggs. It is important for us to inform the customer on how to cook ox-tail, beef liver, or use round steak, for example, so that they can get the best out of their meal with their family. With all of the added health benefits of pastured chicken and grass-fed beef, we strive to enhance your culinary experience to the best of our abilities.
Soups and stews are a family favourite for all seasons of the year. Much of the ingredients in the recipes are grown on the farm. Produce like carrots, onions, pumpkin, squash, and others form the basis of our vegetable based soups. These nutrition packed soups are great for colds, liquid diets, and boosting your immune system.
Here are some recipes to let your mind chew on…and chew on.
